Bio
Jeffrey Terreson (b. Bedford, NY 1955) attended the Columbus College of Art and Design on a full merit scholarship. He worked as an illustrator before dedicating himself full-time to painting. Terreson gathers inspiration from post-war contemporary artists, the spiritual essence of the East, as well as a resonance with nature.

His process of gestural layers of oil paint imbues his art with an uninhibited textural style that is vibrant with color and a seductive tactile quality. Distinct elements come together and, through their alchemy, a unity is created.

Terreson’s work can be found in more than 150 private and corporate collections, including those of the United Nations, IBM, National Geographic, Mobil Oil, Ernst & Young, Oracle, NBC, Joseph Abboud and Ralph Lauren. Terreson works out of his studio in Bedford, NY.

Statement
The deconstruction and reconstruction of shadow and light became the foundation of the abstractions that I paint. Making parts whole remains the guiding light of my art. Obscure images, lights and shadows may inspire me. Whatever it is, it becomes alone in place, framed by its setting, where the restriction of representation disappears. In this release of realism, a depth of clarity and honesty arrive and speak, bringing the purpose, meaning, and coherence to each work.
